The Subscribers to the Memorandum and such other persons as shall be admitted to Membership in accordance with the regulations and none other shall be members of the society, and shall be entered in the register of members of the society accordingly.
3) There shall be five classes of Members namely.
a) Founder
b) Ordinary
c) Life,
d) Associate.
e) Honorary.
Founder Member” means the subscriber/ promoters of the society.
”Ordinary Members” means full time practicing Cardiovascular Surgeon or Thoracic Surgeon on the consultant staff if a fully equipped hospital for Cardiovascular or Thoracic Surgery.
Life Member “means an ordinary member who has paid a sum of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as a lump sum.
“Associated Member” means elected by the council among those engaged in training cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in a recognized hospital who shall only take part in the scientific business but cannot take part in the general business of the society.
“Honorary Member” means a person who has played a significant role in promoting and advancing the cause of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in the Pakistan and abroad as well and be elected by the Council of the society with two third majority of the council members, honorary member will be exempted from payment of any admission or membership fee.
No person shall be admitted as member of the Society in any class unless he Is approved and admitted by the council and the council shall have full discretion as to admission and may refuse to admit any person to membership In any class (even if he Is already a member in any other class) without assigning any reason whatsoever.
Any person who Is desirous to take part In promoting the cause of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in the Country as well as In the abroad and wants to be admitted to membership In any class of the society, must sign and deliver an application to the Society for admission specifying the class of membership sought, and framed in such terms as the Council shall require, accompanied by the payment of the prescribed admission fee and one year’s subscription in advance.
Every member shall be bound to further promote to the best of his ability, the objective, cum Interest and Influence of the society, and shall observe all the Regulations of the Society.
Qualification of Members:
i) The qualification of Subscriber/founder members shall be payment of yearly
subscription of Rs. 1,000/- per year In advance Rs. 1,000/- as admission fee.
ii) The qualification of Ordinary members shall by payment of yearly subscription of Rs. 1,000/- and Rs. 1.000/- as admission fee in advance.
iii) The qualification of Life member shall by payment of Rs. 10.000/- at once. No subscription fee shall be payable by a Life Member.
iv) Honorary member is exempted from payment of any fee, keeping in view of the definition mentioned in Article NO 4.
Any member of any class who shall fail In the observance of any of the regulations of the society may be expelled by a resolution of majority of three fourth of the members of the Council present at the meeting of the Council called for the purpose. Such a member - all have twenty-one days notice sent to him of the Councils meeting, and he may and be heard there at. but shall not be present at the voting or take part In the proceedings of the meeting otherwise than as the Council may allow. A member expelled from the Society by such meeting, may within seven days of notice to h his expulsion appeal against the decision of Council to an extra-ordinary general meeting shall be convened by the Council on notice of an appeal being lodged with the Council.
A majority of not less than two-third of the members voting at such extraordinary general meeting shall have powers to confirms or annual the expulsion. The member who has been expelled shall forfeit all claims to any moneys paid by him to the society and shall cease to be a member of the society in any class.
The annual subscription of members shall be for the calendar year from January to December and shall be for the applicable year or part thereof, and shall accrue, due and recur to accrue due on the December every and shall be paid on or before January in each year.
A person not admitted as a member shall be entitled to have the amount paid by him in advance for the purpose of admission refunded and except in such an event, no refund of any payment made by a member or ex-member to the society, nor any part thereof, shall be made and no claim in respect thereof shall be entertained.
Honorary Members shall be entitled to receive the last publish report of the council, and notice of meetings of the society, and shall also be entitled to attend and speak at General Meeting, but not to vote thereat, and may also upon the incitation of the council Attend under like conditions any meetings of the council.
Persons admitted as Honorary Members shall be members of that class for such time as the council may from time to time extend the terms of any honorary member by such further period as the Council may decide.
Subject to the provision of Article 9 thereof, the term of membership of the society In any class shall not extend beyond the life of any member and the rights of Membership of an Individual shall cease on his death. A member of any class defaulting for a period of excess of one year In the payment of subscription due from him to the society shall on such default Ipso facto cease to be a member of the Society.
